VJDAMUSICMAN (Vybhav Jagannath) joined Aaron this week on Live and Local, still celebrating the recent release of his third album, “Chaos on a Canvas.”

Learn more about Jagannath at VJDAMUSICMAN.com.

Born and raised in Durham – and currently based in New York while he’s in medical school – Jagannath has been recording and performing as VJDAMUSICMAN for the last five years, creating electronic pop music that explores and expresses his Indian and queer identities (among others).

“Chaos on a Canvas” is VJ’s third album, influenced by a world of music from Indian to American pop. (You’ll hear echoes of Sam Smith and Nicki Minaj, to name just a couple.) It’s an album with a narrative, driven by a conflict – or a collaboration? – between Jagannath and his id-like alter ego, the “Mad Hatter.”

Vybhav Jagannath stopped by Live and Local to chat about the album and play three tracks: “Chaos on a Canvas” (Aaron’s favorite), “Uglies,” and “In the 20s.”
