New exclusive vinyl: Fireworks' 'Gospel' pink w/ red blob LP

Fireworks made a big comeback this year with Higher Lonely Power, their art rock-leaning first album in nine years and one of 2023’s best albums. But before that, they helped define a new generation of emo/pop punk in the late 2000s and early 2010s with now-classic albums like 2011’s Gospel, home of some of the band’s biggest fan favorites like “Arrows” and “X’s On Trees.”

Gospel was produced by Brian McTernan, released on Triple Crown, and it marked a period of growth for the band and became a breakthrough album. “We just don’t want to be pigeon-holed in a genre,” they told Property of Zack at the time. “I’m not saying we’re not a pop-punk band, but I think that genre is too dumbed down and not what it used to be… We grew as a band as we got older and so have our fans. Hopefully the fans can grow with us instead of expecting the same thing.”
